Ted Lahey has made a lifetime commitment to the marine and yachting industry since
launching his first maritime-related enterprise in high school, a scuba diving business. Post-college, he was employed by a Connecticut-based yacht rigging company that gave him access to some of the most competitive race boat programs on the East Coast.
Ted continues to be a competitive sailor, having joined the New York Yacht Club (NY), Nantucket Yacht Club (MA), and Pequot Yacht Club (CT). His entrepreneurship and passion for the industry grew further with the purchase of Essex Boat Works in 1993. His 23 years at the helm there taught Ted the value of building and maintaining client relationships,
quality design and engineering, and the most desirable (and undesirable) yacht features.
Ted transitioned from the technical-oriented business to yacht sales with The Hinckley Company, working directly with the CEO to successfully open and operate a new Connecticut office in 2015. Ted stayed for two years then left to join the Sales Team at Sparkman & Stephens.
Ted’s experience, coupled with his industry knowledge and relationships, gives Ted a definitive advantage in making the yacht buying /selling experience both professional and enjoyable.
Ted is enthusiastic about re-joining the Hinckley Sales Team and is committed to bringing to his clients the passion and attention to detail that he has accrued over the years.
