Northeast Harbor: A Hinckley Summer Classic

TIMELESS, SCENIC, AND DEEPLY WOVEN INTO OUR CRUISING CULTURE—NORTHEAST HARBOR IS ONE OF HINCKLEY’S MOST BELOVED DESTINATIONS

Tucked along the southern edge of Mount Desert Island, Northeast Harbor is the ideal summer cruising destination—proximity to Acadia, effortless island-hopping among the Cranberry Isles, and the timeless coastal charm that has long attracted families like the Rockefellers and Astors. This past August, it set the stage for the Hinckley Northeast Harbor Showcase, where guests gathered at our waterfront service yard to enjoy lobster rolls, signature cocktails, and explore our latest models and service offerings. With local favorites like Milk & Honey’s Thursday night patio parties and the soon-to-reopen Asticou Inn, Northeast Harbor is more than a destination—it’s the essence of summer on the Maine coast. Meet us there this summer?

NORTHEAST HARBOR, MAINE

WHY GO: Island-hopping is at its finest in this glorious region, where Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Seal Harbor, Great Gott Island, and the Cranberry Isles create a perfect playground for boaters. Located on the south end of Mount Desert Island (home of Acadia National Park), Northeast Harbor has long been a summer retreat for prestigious families including the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and Astors, who built palatial estates there during the late 19th century.

INSIDER TIP: After a year-long renovation, the historic Asticou Inn, circa 1884, is set for a grand reopening in summer 2025. Locals know that this is the spot for the best homemade popovers on Mount Desert Island, and, chances are, the best cocktails, too.

TOP TABLES: The Salt Market for cappuccinos and buttermilk biscuits, Docksider for lobster rolls and ice cream, and Milk & Honey for delicious sandwiches, plus their Thursday night patio parties with oysters, fried chicken, and champagne.

HINCKLEY GATHERING: With lush landscaping and gorgeous waterfront views, the Northeast Harbor service yard is primed for parties. Such was the scene of the Hinckley Showcase on a picture-perfect day in August 2024, when 100 guests gathered for cocktails and lobster rolls from The Bucking Lobster food truck as they ogled over the latest boats on display, including the Picnic Boat 37, Picnic Boat 40, Talaria 43 MKII, and Talaria 48 MKII.
