Located on the south end of Mount Desert Island (home of Acadia National Park), Northeast Harbor has long been a summer retreat for prestigious families including the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and Astors, who built palatial estates there during the late 19th century.
INSIDER TIP: After a year-long renovation, the historic Asticou Inn, circa 1884, is set for a grand reopening in summer 2025. Locals know that this is the spot for the best homemade popovers on Mount Desert Island, and, chances are, the best cocktails, too.

HINCKLEY GATHERING: With lush landscaping and gorgeous waterfront views, the Northeast Harbor service yard is primed for parties. Such was the scene of the Hinckley Showcase on a picture-perfect day in August 2024, when 100 guests gathered for cocktails and lobster rolls from The Bucking Lobster food truck as they ogled over the latest boats on display, including the Picnic Boat 37, Picnic Boat 40, Talaria 43 MKII, and Talaria 48 MKII.
