The Shields class of keelboat was designed in partnership between Cornelius Shields and Olin Stephens in the early 1960s. More than 250 boats have been built by a handful of builders. The design has a faithful group of followers and there are still active fleets competing around the United States.
AZURA II was built by Hinckley Yachts in 1972. She has been professionally maintained for many years by Ballentine’s Boat Shop.
AZURA II has been modified to be easily single-handed with upgrades including a roller furling jib and a Dutchman furling system on the mainsail. These changes can be easily reversed if the boat were to compete in Shields class racing.
The sale of AZURA II includes a recent Triad Trailer in “like new” condition. As the boat is launched with a travel lift, the trailer has never been submersed in salt or fresh water. The trailer was purchased for $5,000 in 2014.
