SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine -- The Hinckley Company announced here today the appointment of Edward Roberts as Vice President of Sales. Mr. Roberts will have responsibility for worldwide sales of Hinckley's full line of yachts, including Sou'wester sailboats and Talaria jet boats. Hand-built to order, the yachts are known for combining impeccable, old-world craftsmanship with cutting-edge nautical technology.
Reporting directly to Alexander Spaulding, President of Hinckley Yachts, Mr. Roberts will also oversee the operations of Hinckley sales offices in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Annapolis, Maryland, West Palm Beach, Florida and Bay Harbor, Michigan. In addition, he will work closely with Joel Ewanick, Vice President of Marketing at Hinckley. Prior to joining Hinckley, Mr. Roberts was Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Grand Banks Yachts. During his 15 years with the company, he managed sales orders and dealer liason between the Grand Banks factory and 26 dealers, as well as directed global marketing.

An avid sailor, Mr. Roberts began his career in the marine industry in the early 1980's when he owned and operated a sailboat charter and sub-dealership for Cape Dory sailboats and Grand Banks yachts. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and has done graduate studies in architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design.
